Sure this has been discussed before but here goes. Fixing up a styled D. Have a starter but haven't checked it out yet. Just in case it is junk (bad armature or such) is there another starter available that would work?

Is there an ID tag on it?

Likely, there's still some parts that can be found, if needed.

Starter # should be 000794. If armature bad it can be re-wound. Brushes, bushings & field coils still available.

Has a tag. There are two different starters used; one with a solenoid and one with a manual switch. Most parts may be the same.
Will have to check on availability of parts when we find out if it is usable.
