I had one about 15 years ago. I can't remember anything about the transmission, just that everything was belt driven with pulleys. I can tell you though that the bearings for the drive wheel axles on the inside of the chain drive leg are going to be VERY hard to find if they go out. I had one go out and a dealer was able to locate the part on the dealer inventory because they're an obsolete part. At the time there were 3 listed in the entire USA, and I got one of them.
That Wisconsin V4 does not seem to like hot weather, it didn't like to restart until you let it cool down on a hot day. Ran good when running though. I only paid $600 for mine, and it didn't do bad for what I paid for it. Anytime you have a machine that old, you probably should have a backup anyway.
It's a unique piece of machinery though, definitely would attract attention at an antique farm show, but it's hard to haul around without a deckover trailer.
