So today is the day in my area corn crop insurance starts covering planting corn.

Haven?t seen anyone start yet, the 6-10 inches of snow yesterday and today, with 40mph winds might have slowed a few up. Was way too wet before the rain and snow started, rivers are all over flood stage here.

We did maybe fertilize a little, a thin layer of yellow/ red dirt showed up with the snow, never seen that before. They say the storm picked up dust from western Texas and flung it all the way up to here to Minnesota. Maybe we can grow bigger crops with that bigger then life Texas dirt now? :) to those of you in dry Texas, your dirt will ever more have plenty of water, my farm hasnt dried out in 4 years, it will be well watered for a long time.

Lot of weather issues with all the wet heavy snow, ice pellets, wind, freezing rain. I lost power for 2 hours, south of me a little they say 2 days until they can get the 100s of power poles replaced, it took down main transmission lines as well as local lines.

Those of us with livestock are just tired of it, not a huge amount of cattle locally, but not too far west it picks up, calving has been a misery for those.

It?s not as bad as Nebraska has had it, but this weather is sure trying on a big area of the country this year.

Best luck to everyone out there,I think we need it.

Good post, Paul. Here on the SD/MN border it has been a trying winter and spring as well. We're still feeling awful lucky when we look in all directions, but everyone here is ready for warmer and drier times.

Hang in there!
