I am new to the MM world. I have looked at them at tractor shows and know some basic information. IH has always been my background. I have been given what is believed to be a 1952 MM UTU. The serial number
plate is gone, the only plate I have is the engine serial number and it is almost completely rotten. I deciphered what I could and found out it has a 283A-4 engine in it. I have located my engine overhaul kit, I have
pieced together parts from all over the place to rebuild the distributor. I am starting to run into issues with finding parts now, the plate over the steering box is rotting, The radiator is holding water but bent to the side
and the surrounds are rotting, governor parts are impossible to find and water pumps I have seen nothing for. I was wondering if any of you could point fingers in any direction for any of these parts. The road I live on
is named after the original owner of this tractor and the family is very important to me. I am adamant about seeing this tractor through to restoration. Any info I would be grateful for.

A U is about the easiest MM tractor to find parts for. I have a couple of the cover plates for the steering gear, or bring it to any fab shop. Can make one with a laser cutter very quickly. Seal and bushings for the water pump are available. Other parts for the water pump can be gotten used. If your radiator is really rough, your best bet will be to buy a nicer used one to start with, then have a radiator shop go through it. Can source bushings for the governor from McMaster Carr. Otherwise used ones that are probably better than yours are plentiful. I have a couple on the shelf. Let me know if I can help with anything. I believe you have my number. Your distributor parts are in the mail.

Guess my parts research isn?t very good, been searching the
internet with little luck, as a start to talk to more collectors, I?ve
found more venders and parts. Most of the ones I?ve found
have no website though.

I'm in Talladega county Al. I know where and old guy is that will sell this MM u for $1500. Last ran 4-5 years ago. Clutch is stuck. Squirrels have chewed up wires, and tranny is full if water. Maybe a great parts tractor? Email open if interested. Nothing in it for me, just helping and old guy out. Also Welter's farm supply in mo carry lots of MM parts. I will hunt their number.

I,too live in NC.

Here are the sources I use. Wendell Everett 740-922-3335 (Gnadenhutten OH.)
Welters Farm Supply (Verona MO) don't remember their phone number. They have the steering gear cover plate.
Charlie Biler, Molineparts, com (engine parts.) I think he would have your water pump seal.
There are others as well. I think there is a list on Jetstar.minnepolis=moline.com.

Matt at Motec used to rebuild governors. I always sourced the ball bearing locally and they usually worked if the governor link to the carburetor was right length.

For your radiator, If there is an old-time radiator shop in your area, I think you can get yours re-cored. Not cheap though.

I Hope to see you at shows sometime. Do you go to Newton/Hickory or Denton?
