Battery has a master shutoff switch that disconnects the 6 volt battery when tractor is not being used.
The tractor starts fine when cold with charged battery and keeps running.

If the main switch is left closed (connected) then the battery loses charge with key off within a day.
I noticed the battery, generator and starter switch were very warm, almost hot.

I have a 6v/12v starter and jump started it at the starter with 12v a few times. Would this have damaged anything, or would the starter switch keep the 12v jump isolated??

Any ideas?

Starter solenoid would keep it isolated as long as you stayed on starter side & not battery side. Sounds as though the cut out portion of voltage regulator is stuck closed. It should open as engine coasts to a stop & generator output falls.
