I am trying to get a new steering gear for a ford 7600, it is leaking at the sector and the up the steering column. I have it pulled out now and although I have rebuilt a tractor trailer steering gear before I'm really not comfortable getting into this one plus getting the cab out of the way was enough of a job I don't want to do it again.

The issue I run into is most of the ones I see for sell, including here, have two different power steering lines sized for the pressure and return, where as on mine both holes are the same aprox .62 with a 13 thread pitch.

Has anyone made new lines to adapt? Has anyone got a new one they didn't need to?

The sn is C491817 and it originally did not have a cab (now has an after market) it that helps at all.

Tractors a early 76 model, probably the same column as used on the late 5000/7000 models.
The one on MIL's 5600 leaks around the bottom, has for years.

This would be my recommendation.

Convert it over to hydrostatic steering and get away from the leak prone column.

Farmland Tractor Parts in Tangent, Or. makes these kits.
Cost less than a reman column.
Google them for their phone number.

I'd re-seal the old one. I've never had one I couldn't seal.

I have a used PS box off a 6600. Never saw the tractor run so I'm not sure what kind of shape it is in.

Wish I had found that sooner just ordered a new after market from crosscreektractors that is supposed to bolt right up. That does look like a more reliable set up to me, especially for less money.
