My new to me Super C needs a new carburetor. The one that came with it is broke at one of the bolt holes. Its a Zenith carb and new ones are over $300. Zeniths always seem to be the most expensive. Searching the internet, ebay comes up with some for around $100 and some are around $180. None of them say who makes them. Are they junk or a good deal on a new carb? I'm guessing junk but was wondering if anyone has any experience with the cheap carbs.

"broke at one of the bolt holes"

Do you have the "ear" that's broken off?

If so, it's no big deal to repair it.

If broken off part is missing a new piece can easily be fabbed up and brazed in place.

NOTHING wrong with repairing and keeping a good old American made unit, IMHO.

And the scars visible from the repair add character!

You can "assume" that they're junk but that would be your loss.

They're the exact same carburetors as the ones you pay $300 for. There just isn't enough demand for this type of stuff to have more than one manufacturer making it.

I know this should not need saying but I would disassemble and clean the carb before brazing on a new ear!

I've seen several comments on brazing it back together but I don't have the piece that was broken off.

I do believe all carbs are made overseas. I have bought 5/6 diff from ebay. just installed a new on one my predator generator motor yesterday. works fine. its best though if they don't list your tractor contact them first and ask them if it will fit your model. I would agree with others on here. just repair yours if it works okay. really not a lot of pressure on those ears.
