I have a few questions will add pictures to help explain need to know if there's anything else or what I need to do to the rear main bearing packing material after I fill the holes and cut the excess off. Also is there a purpose for the hole that is on the back of the old screen that's in the oil pan. I have a book for the tractor but does not explain in detail

Packing material gets packed in with a blunt object very thoroughly.
I add a little RTV to the string as I am packing it in but probably not necessary.
Cut off flush when done with a sharp razor blade. Put a wee dab of RTV on the gasket where it meets the packing when putting the pan on. I don't know about the hole on pickup.

How about just fill those areas with RTV sealer something that wasn't around when TO 20s were new.

Good plan. Try poking RTV up a hole, did not work out well for me.
I know the string packing works.
