Does anyone know the direction that the shaft turns to remove it from the front of the crankshaft. Don't know if it is right or left hand thread. Thanks.

Facing the crankshaft pulley, it turns clockwise, so from that same point of view you would turn the "stinger" shaft clockwise to unscrew it.

(LH thread.)

The threaded shaft is left hand thread. Are you sure it's not splined?

Thanks for everyone's help. It must be threaded because with all I tried I got no movement. Will give her a try tomorrow if I get time. John

It's easy to tell threaded from splined apart. The threaded shaft is used with a hub that has four pins which engage the rubber bushings in the face of this pulley. The pulley used with the splined shaft is nothing like this.
