I have a JD300-B Backhoe that will start up then dies and acts like its starving for fuel. This backhoe was sitting for about 10 years covered in a a garage before I got it. It ran for 3-4 hours with no
problems then slowly died one time. It will start up every time but will die within about 10 seconds. I've tried everything I can think of and am looking for any ideas! I cleaned out the fuel tank, blew out
every line, replaced the fuel filter, tried bleeding the lines, and still is acting the same. Attached is a video of the injector lines while the engine is trying to turn over, does it seem like the fuel
coming out is weak or is that the normal rate? I really want to make sure its the fuel injection pump before I tear it all apart, but am not confident yet that is the problem. Any ideas/suggestions would be
greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Collin

Welcome to YT
I suggest to check fitting in inj pump that screws into housing that the fuel return line attaches to. It's possible the check ball is clogged creating too much pressure inside pump housing stopping pump from creating high pressure. If check ball is clogged it's possible drive ring in pump is deteriorating requiring pump disassembly & replacement

I did check the ball valve on inj pump return line, seems to be functioning properly and wasn't clogged.

Loosen the two screw timing cover on the injection pump side, if engine runs fine WITH the fuel leak, but slows/stalls with cover tight, injection pump needs repair soon. The retainer ring is breaking apart inside which plugs the return side, causing pump to shut down. I repair several each month for the same trouble..
