I have a 5040 Allis Chalmers but it has the same 3 cylinder diesel engine as a 445 Long so i thought someone on here might be more familiar with that engine, the parts book says the engine has a code that starts with 8035.01.305 or 306 but where is it out? I've found the engine serial number 62765 but nothing else.
Also i'm thinking this tractor might need a head gasket, its got quite a bit of blow by coming out the tube and the exhaust smoke smells like raw fuel, i know the compression is down cause its not easy to start. On one side of the block you can see that liquid has run down the block below the head at some point. I had a Ford 555 backhoe with the same symptoms and the head gasket had broke in two between cylinders. Think i should check the head gasket?? |

I may not have this right but I always understood that Long was a Romanian version of a Fiat. Back in '76 I bought a new Long 560 and the engine plate clearly said Fiat on it and so did the boxes that any parts came in. Might try plugging your numbers into a fiat search. |

Think that is a Fiat built tractor like an Oliver 1365. Don't quote me on that. |

The Long 445 and the AC 5040 are both UTB tractors which for all practical purposes are Fiats built in Romania and very little different from Italian built Fiat tractors.Sounds like you probably need new sleeves and rings but at any rate you'll need to pull the head to see.The sleeves are dry sleeves which come unfinished, they need to be bored to spec once installed which mean the block will have to go to a machine shop. |
