I watch the news and not interested in the same stuff here. So much stuff totally off topic. Make a coffee shop forum ? But lots should be poofed anyhow.

It is, but political/divisive topics are specifically not allowed. The topic in question though originally allowed, is one that causes several people to attack anyone discussing it and even goes political. There are individuals who have difficulty with not turning some topics into political trash talk. It's not permitted on YT.

The moderator permitted discussion of the pandemic for a time. It didn't work out because certain people could not discuss it civilly, and that is the key point, not what the actual topic is. I'm reasonably sure (my opinion, not speaking the rule of law that governs these forums) the moderator has never been against people talking on virtually any topic as long as they can talk without divisiveness, but certain individuals can't help themselves but to force a thread to devolve into childish attacks. Therefore some topics, politics the most obvious, are not allowed.

We had an actual off-topic forum in the mid-2000s. It was disastrous as it attracted many people who could care less about tractors. All they came for was to fight and espouse their divisive opinions as slams to others. Needless to say it was solid politics and vulgarity. Additionally, they frequently used sock puppet accounts to post views they could then attack or get others riled up to attack who would not have. Tractor Tales on the other hand, was created to discuss non-tractor topics still within the site policy. Originally, it was created to move the Green vs Red, and Orange vs Green tractor topics out of the main forums. It predominately maintains a rural life-style orientation and that is the intention nowadays.
