I was having some issues with rotors busting in my distributor, after 3 of them I noticed that the top half of my distributor seems really loose and spins freely, is that normal? If not, is there some adjustment to make or is the distributor shot? As far as I can tell it is the original distributor so it might stand to reason that after 70 years it might be worn out. |

Looking at the parts page, there are 2 different caps, something about a Tisco replacement distributor, which you probably don't have.
But there is also supposed to be a dust cover under the cap. If it is missing, the cap will sit too low and not lock the tab properly.
