I want to replace a bad block that has a rope seal with a block that has a lip seal. I don't think the oil pan will work. The block with the lip seal
doesn't have an oil pan. Is there a way to make the rope oil pan to work with the lip seal block.

A year ago I replaced the original diesel rope seal block in my MF 135 with a lip seal block. I ordered a new short block kit out of Canada that came with all the parts to make the conversion. The parts were from Vapormatic of the UK. I believe Vapormatic has bought the rights to make the Perkins diesel ad3.153 block from Perkins. The kit came with a new short block, new camshaft, new oil pan, new rear adapter plate between the engine and transmission, and a new front adapter plate. The oil pan and rear adapter plate or definitely different that the rope seal ones. However, the front adapter plate was identical to the rope seal one. I used the new one but I could have used the old one. Everything fit and I had no trouble replacing the rope seal block. So, to answer your question, you will need a different oil pan and rear adapter plate. My email is open if you wish to ask more questions.
