I just got a Farmall Super C with a Woods 59 belly mower. This is the first time I have ever had a belly mower on anything. Everything was functional when I looked at the tractor. Unfortunately, the belt somehow came off getting the tractor loaded and unloaded when I picked it up. I tried to put it back on per the diagram on the deck and how it looked right at the tractor, but I ended up with what appeared to be a full twist in the belt.
Does anyone have a link to a manual for this mower on this particular tractor? I went to Woods website and found nothing.
Thanks

If you got it on according to the diagram, your fine, but it will have a half of twist from going flat around the blades,up to the power drive pulley where it gets its power, But mine has to be fiddle string tight,i have a 3 foot bar, i put my foot on, and 15/16's wrench's to tighten the bolt

Guess the first question I would have is where is the pulley that drives the mower located? Is it a large pulley at the back of the PTO or is it a pulley on the side of the PTO?

My BN uses a pulley mounted on the very rear of the PTO and is the L306 with three blades.

I am trying to figure out where I could have gone wrong because the belt looks like it has a complete 360 degree twist. I can't even see how that is possible when I know I have the deck correct.

Hopefully someone has the drawing that shows the side pulley design as my manual only shows the rear pulley set up.

I know others here have the style like you do so hopefully they chime in before the grass gets too tall!

1946JDA - I have a Woods 306 mower on a Farmall A. The belt is driven off of the side of the PTO so it may be similar. Here is how my belt is routed.

I have one on a Super A Farmall and I believe the set up is the same as yours. I had a new belt put on by the dealer and it has 2 turns on the belt. I know they have to be in the right spot or it will not last long. Belts are expensive. I was told to keep the belt really really tight. So far it has held up good for a couple of years.

that one idler pulley is wrong as it should be smooth so no twist is needed between the drive and the grouved one shown that twist
never did work and hasnt been used in several yrs that pic is from a early dia and was changed to a smooth one. I have had a 59 on
a B SINCE 1965 and have sold them and serviced them. Put the belt on the mower bring the belt back to the mule drive and the twists
will explant themselves keeping belt tight should last for many yrs. Your C is the mule drive off the PTO or belt pulley

I thought Woods had owners manuals you could download on their website? I printed one, but it was 12 years ago. the belt needs to be tight, especially if your mowing heavy grass. I ran a stick in the blades in ours and it killed the engine on our C, didn't hurt the belt.

Good deal! The deck has the diagram on it but no notation on the twist in the belt. Hopefully this solves my troubles. Thanks

I've been looking around and near as I can tell Woods manual downloads for the old stuff went away 7 or 8 years ago.

That's interesting Gene. I bought my L306A mower in 1997 and the manual is from 1995. I also have a pdf copy of the manual from 2007 that has the same routing. When I changed the belt (once in 24 years) I had to follow the manual to get it right because it takes a convoluted path.
