I have a 3 cylinder gas 2000 and an NAA. Wanting to get a new
shredder. I have a 40 year old 5 bush hog that both tractors run
well enough. Can they both handle a 6 model? Plenty of hills
where Ill be mowing. Am I getting too greedy to bump up a size?

Looking at a medium duty bush hog brand.

Thx.

The rule of thumb is minimum 5 PTO HP per foot so you are right there at 30-32 pto hp for both tractors. However there are a few factors. What you are cutting, hills like you mentioned, how fast you go or want to go and probably a few others.

If the stuff you are mowing is heavy at all, you will struggle with a 6 footer.
That extra foot out the back will cause your front end to get very light. Makes it hard to steer.
I put front wheel weights on my 64 4000. I had to add suitcase weights to the front of my 4600.
If you are mowing a lawn, you would be good.
A field with tall grass, stick with the 5 footer.
