Hello everyone. I've got a 276 baler and needle stop keeps getting impacted and sheering the sheet bolt. I was wondering if it could be from maybe the bale chamber being to tight? Maybe the needle not pulling out of the tight bale as easy? I'm new to this baler so please forgive my lack of knowledge. |

Check brake on needles, if it doesn't hold tight needles wiil move from a bump in the field.

Make sure the needles come all the way to the home position. If they don't the safety will have the stop in the chamber and cause that. Don't know on that baler but on my NH271 there is a pin that can break in the rod that moves the needle and it is goes bad it can cause that or the brake as the other guy said |

The needles don't go through the bale. They go up past the end of it, with maybe a slab's worth of hay on the plunger side of the needle. So being too tight is not the problem. |

Ditto if baler is timed correctly needles travel up through 2 slots in plungerhead.
Are slip clutch plates free to slip IE not stuck? |

You need to clean enough hay out of the chamber so that you can remove all of the tension so that you can turn it by hand and compare what it does to the specs in your manual. |

I did not read anyone suggesting that you check the adjustment of the needle stop. This is from an old foggy memory. Seems that Years ago my NH276 would shear a bolt, and we would find the toe of the dog out against the rubber pad on the crank. I think we adjusted the stop and the problem went away. Also had a bad needle stop adjustment on a backup NH273. |

If it's like the 273 check the brake on the knotter shaft. If loose it will let the needle yoke drift down out of the home position. |
