I was having problems with my Chalmers 200 dieing under load and having to sit for a few hours and it would start right up. When it died it acted like it was losing fuel. Checked my side window on the roosa and it appeared normal. I pulled the pump anyways and went through it. I found nothing wrong with it. Before I did this I also replaced filters which didn't help. I do have this little rubber piece left over and for the life of me can't figure out where it goes. Everything is back together and if I prime it it will start right up. Max rpm is roughly 1300 rpm which is not normal. It runs for about a minute and dies then needs to be primed about a dozen times. Return line is running into a bucket and I blew backwards through the main line. Little lost

That rubber plug goes in the bottom of the transfer pump inlet/pressure regulator. Just pushes into the hole on the bottom. |

Try running again, this time when it dies quickly loosen the two screw timing cover. If engine speeds up OK the RETURN check ball fitting is plugged and needs cleaned/replaced. If plugged it will cause pump to shut down, even if you see some return fuel. The black plug is no longer used, but a steel retainer is used now. |

Thank you, I was just walking in after
doing that and hoping I was right. I'm
not sure if I was more frustrated at
myself for not remembering or not being
able to find it in the book I have or
online. |

No dice, I will have to double check my fuel transfer ring isn't 180 off. |
