I need an A 41414 coupling. This is the drive coupling on the bottom of the distributer and this is sheared off because of the tach drive siezed due to a lack of grease. This is about a 1966 model 730gas.

Is it like a small Lovejoy coupler? Take a couple of measurements from it. I've got one off a Prestolite distributor that you can have if it will fit your needs. steve

The prestolite measurements are 1/2 shaft, 1/8" roll pin. Overall about 3/4" + in length and a little less than an inch in diameter. I'd be happy to take care of the shipping and give you something for the part.

Barry, here's a pic of what I have. It is about 1-9/16 long (without the shaft). One bore is right close to .500 +or- .002 (my caliper is in disagreement with my mic), and the other bore is .498 +or-. Role pins are 1/8. I can get it in the mail tomorrow, if it will fit your need. It was free to me, so free to you. steve

If Joe's diagram is what you have, I don't think mine will work. steve

Unless, of course, you want to file one down to make one half of mine fit yours. Is yours aluminum? If so, I think you could make one out of half of this one I have. I get about 3/4 inch from the end, to the edge of the pin hole where you'd need to cut it off, and an OD of just under an inch. If yours is a tab on either side of the bore, and not a piece running all the way across, you could file mine down to be just like yours. With both halves of mine, you'd have two times to try to screw it up??!!! Let me know if you want to try it. Last time I sent something this small, it cost about $8. And the parts are free. steve

Try Jeff Schlemmer: He was very helpful. Built his own for an old Massey Harris 50, from one out of a Mini Cooper. jeff@advanceddistributors.com.

That would be a pretty simple project for a small lathe, and even better if you have a horizontal mill. Especially if it is aluminum. steve
