I have a 2n that was converted when I already got it. I am needing to replace the coil but cant tell what type it is. (6 or 12 volt). I want to buy a 12 volt. How can I ensure I am getting the proper voltage to it? Currently there is a long plastic whie piece behind the dash. A wire goes from one side off this to the current coil.

The resistance between the top terminal and the pigtail on a 6-volt coil should be about 1-ohm. On a 12-volt coil it should be about 3-ohms. You determine the proper voltage by installing the correct resistors & then checking it w/ a volt meter. Read the article by Chris Britton; it will give you all the info you need about installing the correct resistors.

How much voltage should go to a 12 volt coil? I could not find it in the article.
