I heard that Fordson F's had a rear end like a wrench, and if you caught anything in the back , it would go up so fast you wouldnt know what happened,
Ive heard these thing's had a gearset like a wrench,
and for their size they pulled really good, but dont get anything caught in the back , or hook onto anything, as they will go up in a flash, and youll haveto jump off the thing, and then let it go back down,

Kirk:

Fordsons did indeed have a reputation as a man killer because they were prone to rear up and flip over backwards quickly and it was difficult to jump off quickly.

The Fordsons had a worm gear drive to the differential rather than a hypoid ring and pinion. This generated lots of heat and caused the differential housing to get very hot but had little to do with the tractors propensity to rear up.

According to several books I read that's the reason the fenders were made longer on the back end so it would stop the tractor from going all the way over.
