I have just purchased a 1951 A John Deere tractor and a 227 cornpicker. Can anyone tell me what years the 227 was manufactured. Thanks JD

As long as no one has answered, I'll offer a guess. I think the 227 replaced the 226 in about 1952. And they are still shown in the 1963 pocket ledger although that might be a old picture.

The Sept-Oct 2007 Two Cylinder magazine has a big article on John Deere cornpickers. You might want to get it and read up on them. According to this article the 227 had a pilot run of 150 machines in 1952 and full production in 1953. There were improvements through the years until another pilot run of 150 237s were made in 1963 with full production starting in 1964.
