I have been enjoying this website educating myself about Ford 8N/9N tractors. I just bought one. It is my first. Where do you find the serial number for the tractor to identify which model it is? I found an engraved number on the side of the engine block that starts with 9N, but the differences chart on this website indicates the tractor to be an 8N. Can anyone help me figure out what I have, or has a 9N engine been put on an 8N tractor.

Thank you for any helpful information.

Ken

Not uncommon to have different year engines with the N series. I have a 51 N with a 41 engine. About the only obvious difference is the proofmeter can't be plugged in, and even that can be solved with a governor change. I love my 8/9N.
