After seeing good remarks here about this unit, I bought one yesterday at Northern. Had them at $5.00 off the regular price. Was really interested in the desulphating feature. SURPRISE! The book says the unit will not work if battery voltage is below 11 volts. Sulphated batteries often are below 11 volts. So this thing works only on batteries that are in pretty good shape.

Not to worry Bus driver, Normally the Battery MINDer units are designed to recharge the battery fully before automatically switching to the sesulphate mode (blinking green light) If the battery is sulphated so bad that it will not reach minimum voltage for an automatic switch to desulphate mode, just press the little button on the cjarger/desulphator case to manually switch on the desulphator. It will even recharge the battery as it desulphates, although very slowly.
I have mine working in the manual mode on a pair of badly hurt Optima batteries right now. a really severly sulphated battery may take several weeks to salvage. If sulphation is so severe that the plates and seperators have been damaged causing a short, then there is little or no hope.
