just got my B into my shop to have a look-see . well, the govoner is shot, along with the cover. I did find a good cover, but do not have the govenor assembly yet. This B has distributor.

question one: How do I remove the Govenor

question two: I see I can get the Govenor assembly from several Tractor supply companies,is there anyone better then the other in quality?
thanks, Jim

Remove the magneto and you will find a flat head screw at the edge. Remove that screw and it will pull out the front. I always set the flywheel to (TDC) before removing that gear. That will have the drive horizontal and even if the new gear is not marked by putting the gear in so the drive is horizontal when seated it will be in time.

governor is the same for the mag and distributor motors up till the late 50s. Just follow what Dick said to remove governor, if thats what your doing. Pull the distributor or mag and look into the hole.

Sorry I forgot how to spell distributor. No real difference though in the removal.

I made sure I found top dead center, and removed distributor. I found the little screw at a angle, and removed it, the governor slipped right out.I noticed a identification mark stamped on the cam shaft gear that I assume mates to gear on Governor when I get my new one. so, am I on the right track with this project??? let me know, thanks Jim
