Thanks to MARK-IA, I found the serial number but now don't know what it means as to the year. I'm new to the John Deere tractors, although I have 6 tractors, this is my first John Deere. Thanks for any help. The serial number is SNT711R005137R

My book shows it from first year of production-1966. They only made them 3 years. In 1969 when the "new" style (side console) 3020-4020- were introduced, the 2520 replaced the 2510. So all the 2520's are side console, the 2510's are not.

Interesting. So someone could tell my 2520 didn't come from the factory with a diesel engine.
