I just got mine from McMaster and Carr. Bought four ft, rivits and I needed the set tool. Get the 1/4in. I foolishly thought the 5/8 would give me more lever however it was too much and had to cut them down on my jointer. When I get home I"ll send pictures of the drilling process.

I meant 5/16 instead of 5/8. You deffinately need 1/4". If you put 5/16" on you can't adjust the brake band out enough to use the brake lock.

After drilling out the old rivits, I useg spring clamps to hold everything tight, starting from the center and drilled holes for the rivits with a 3/16" bit.I then flipped it over and used an end mill and drilled 1/8" deep. I used my milling machine but the same can be done with a drill press.
McMaster-Carr rivit part number is: 97451A671
Brake lining part number is:6175k138
(non metalic 1/4" X 2-1/2" wide)
The tool number is: 6667A2
