What is the sequence for putting thermostat in the housing? Does the thermostat go in the housing, then the gasket or gasket then the thermostat, then onto the motor?

Look for a recess in the housing- should be the diameter as the tstat.

right or wrong I just replaced mine by putting the thermostat in on the motor side, then the gasket, then bolted on the radiator side.
