I have a 1962 W-3 Case Backhoe, 4 cyl. gas. The generator quit working so I took it to a generator repair shop. They told me it would be VERY expensive to fix and suggested I replace it with an alternator. Can anyone tell me how to wire it and what type of alternator to get? Someone suggested one form a 1980's Chevy pickup with only 1 terminal, but was only guessing. Also would my AMP. guage still work or do I need to change that or rewire it? My system is 12 volt, positive ground.

should be a pieace of cake,Guy. just make up some brackets to mount the one wire altenator. then run the wire to your battery pos. terminal. i have all my case tractors converted over to this system, has saved a lot of headaches over the years. if your local stater repair shop is any good at all they can help you out with a alternator and questions. if you want to build your alternator there is lots of info on the subject on line. good luck.
