Okay, I have decided to try and find a mate to an existing tire on my SI. It is a military tire(stamped MILITARY on it) 12-24. It has long diagonal bars, Firestone, weater checked and 10-20% rubber but up and holds air. The original from 1943 as far as I can tell. I know I will never get one JUST like it but would like to find a 12-24 or 13.6-24 to put on the rear with it. I see the front tires can be got for miltary jeeps.
Anyone know what would have a 13.6-24? Salvage yards guys kind of look at you funny because it is such an odd size. Would like to find a worn old tire. In Iowa would be great but just need a lead on one. Several local tire companies didn't even call me back with pricing for new in that size. 12.4 and 14.9 are all most carry.

Most of the Industrials used Grader type tires - 12.00-24, 13.00-24, etc. Had the same problem replacing 12.00-24 tire on MM RTI - ended up going with a pair of 13.00-24 Grader tires from local military surplus tire place. Paid $125 each for near new 12 ply tires. Look right and perform great. 13.00-24 & 14.00-24 are relatively easy to find - but there may still be some 12.00-24 out there. Look for someone who services the high lift equipment or road graders

Ned, I have a pair of 7.50X24's here in NWIA. They're smaller than you need but if you can't come up with anything they might possibly work. They are Firestone interlocking tread that were new on a Minneapolis picker that was bought new in 1950 but they have only spent about an accumulated 1/2 year out in the sun. They look great with no cracks, but they aren't young anymore. Jim. email is open.
