Case doesn't seem to have been a big brand in Iowa, at least where I live. Growing up I never saw a Case tractor except at shows or tractor rides. January I moved about 12 miles to the north and west to Redfield. Just in this town there are two 830s and one older Case, maybe a VAC (can't tell as it's in a shed and owner wasn't around to ask). Anyone familiar with the area and can tell me where the local Case dealers were located in their heyday? |

Elvor Roudebush had a Case Dealership in Brooklyn Iowa (60 miles east of Des Moines) back in the late 40"s and early 50"s. He also sold Plymouth Cars at the same location. My 1949 SC Case was purchased from his place.
There is an original Case Shop in Belle Plaine Ia (east and north 20 miles from Brooklyn) complete with original sign, parts bins and loads of parts. Bill Sankot took it over from his Dad and does repairs and restoration from that original location. It is worth the trip and Bill has a wealth of knowledge and stories! You can find info on his garage in Old Abe"s News. |

There were several Case dealers near Redfield. There was one in Adel, one in Perry, one in Winterset (also the Buick or Olds dealer), one in Casey, and one in the little town just north of Panora (I can't see the name as I marked over it). There may even have been one in Redfield as there was usually a Case dealer every 7-10 miles in the 40's and 50's. At that time they were usually small time dealers, quite possibly farmers or cardealers, or even hardware stores. Don |

Hi Rich;
You aren't to far from me. I am in Madrid, north of Granger, east of Woodward. I also spent 59-62 at Waukee. there were a few Case tractors around there.
Don that name you marked over is Yale. Mother had a cousin in Yale for years. My uncle used to farm south of Panora.
There used to be Case dealer in Madrid, I know the son. Started out as a body shop and car repair. They added on to the south end of building, doubled the size. It had a big window in front for a show room, one tractor size, behind that was the parts room and counter, across south end was was repair and put things together area with doors on each side,drive thru. It was on hyway south edge of town. They sold lots of VAC, SC, combines , balers. few DC and 400.

Thanks for the information guys! I grew up just south of DeSoto, lived a long time in Adel, and just moved to Redfield. I have heard Adel at one point or another had a dealer for most every major brand of farm equipment. Perhaps I should do some research and create a list of all local dealers of all brands from days gone by. I grew up around IH and am an Oliver guy now so I admit I don't know much about Case but like most old tractors they always catch my attention. |

My Grandfather owned a Case dealership in Readlyn Iowa. It was Becker Implement. I currently have many of his old dealer books, service manuals and stickers and sale reciepts. It is so cool to see how much he was charging for tractors. |

I'm assuming he wasn't the "one old grump" in that town.
