Been thinking about rebuilding transmission in my A this winter to have something to piddle with. Gears look fine but most of the bearings have had it. Some bearings I already have bought but some I haven"t. My A is a 1944. Some bearings I haven"t bought because on the parts list it says "used on tractors equipped with high speed gear assembly" and some say "used on tractors equipped with slow speed gear assembly".

Goin by the serial numbers listed to the side on the parts list it isn"t talking about the differences in a 2 stick A and a single stick A because the serial numbers are to low. I didn"t know early A"s didn"t all have the same gearing.

Do I have to wait till I get it apart to get the right bearings? Thanks for any help.

I always order my tranny parts after I have it all apart. Part of the reason is so that I can find the actual bearing part numbers as alternatives to getting the bearings from Deere. Not all of the Deere numbers cross correctly.
