Did JD offer an economy seat platform option when they offered the 4000?I put a regular one I had in place of what I thought was an aftermarket one and was told there was a cheaper option which I had never seen and that you could order all the options,3 scvs, diff lock ,extra PTO shaft, heavy cast wheels up to 20.8x34&18.4x38,P.S.,HFWA,A/C cab,if not you got the economy everything.Any comments?

Although the dealer I was employed at never ordered/sold a 4000 with the economy seat IIRC it was an option. Unfortunately I can't look it up on JDparts.com as it on it's usual Sunday morning blitz as this is all I see

Error 500: java.lang.Exception: java.lang.Error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/apache/jsp/_home (wrong name: com/ibm/_jsp/_home)

If I remember right, cheap seat as standard, most 4000 I've seen have it. regular seat & rockshaft covers with tool box, option.. I remember hearing , that with poor farm economy in 69-70.(Tractors sold numbers down) JD assemabled 4000's with any option Farmer desired, I've seen 71 & 72's with full Standard equip.; Full Hinson cabs; HFWA.; 3 Hyd. Factory cast catII. Quick-hitch , & special cult equip. (offset wheels long axles, Single front wheel),etc.

If I remember the JR Hobbs article right, the options list for the 4000 expanded during production, with most everything being available in 71 and 72.

In my mind, it kinda defeated the purpose of a "lower price" model when you spring for the cab, powershift, etc.

I have never seen the "cheaper" seat but I do know that there were other options that could be ordered. Lots of possibilities.

Larry, it's my understanding the "cheaper" seat (which is a Dubuque utility seat) was used on the 4000 Low Profile. I don't believe it was ever used on a regular 4000. Mike
