    may be the advance that is under the plate that the points attaches to. if it is out of its proper place, it would cause this. take dist out. take points plate out,you will need to remove the gear to do this. you should see if the advance is in its slot or not. hope this helps.

    sometimes the lobes that the points rub on,turns when should not. take the dist. out take the plate out(the one the points bolt to). under there is a advance device that comes loose and will cause all those symptions you are having. hope this helps.

    if useing a 6 volt battery, you will need heaver battery cables. as 6 volt takes 2 times the amps as 12 volt. the skinny 12 volt cables just dont do it.

    Hot tank solution

    a friend of mine uses vinegar, he gets it from a resturant supply store. it is 2 times as strong as kitchen vinegar. seems to work very good for him. he allways scrapes the parts as best as he can, then in the vinegar overnight.

    manifold studs

    you can tap new threads in the head useing next larger size. then you can go to your good parts store that sells dorman products. dorman has new studs that will have studs with the larger threads on one end and the same threads as the old studs on the other end. hope this helps.

    sounds like low fuel pressure. may need a new fuel pump.

    Oil Leaking out the pto shaft at the rear

    a coupling between front and rear pto shaft. oring in the coupling. coupling is between the bull gears. there is a roll pin that holds the shafts togeather. need to lift the hyd.sys. up to get acess. dont let the front shaft move foward or back when pulling them apart.4 bolts to remove rear...

    Un Z splitting an Oliver 550

    I giggle it a little and hit the starter just a touche and they will go togeather. make sure you havent bent the pressure plate splines.
