What''s going on?

The other day when I was mowing with the '57 super 55, halfway through mowing I noticed that whenever I pushed in the clutch, it would kick the pto lever forward enough to slip and disengage the blade. Then, when I let the clutch back out, it would let the lever fall back and re engage the pto. What's going on?

Where is your pto lever located? Behind the seat or up front
by the brake pedals? Not sure on a super 55, but my 550’s
have the pto lever in front. If the lever gets dry on the shaft,
the clutch pedal movement will move the pto lever. Lube it up
should help.

You can see the pto handle just below the steering wheel.
