    No, the impulse needs to trip right at TDC . If it’s tripping before it will kick you if you use a hand crank.

    the pin is 1 1/16 inch. dont forget them draw bar holes get all worn out and egg shaped from pulling. you can push and pull on the draw bar and its nothing to have 1 inch or more of travel.

    the purpose is, R is for clockwise rotation, and L is for counterclockwise rotation. and yes they are timed. the little gear has a timing mark to line up to the R as yours is right hand rotation as all the gas models except the w9 which is Left hand rotation due to the idler gear in the timing...

    starting fluid is a starting aid. without gas the engine will not run. that is why i said to add gas to the cylinders. or remove the air intake and have someone with a spray bottle and mist it in while cranking it and it will start. i have dont that also.

    Sure it will crank over , but starting fluid alone won’t make it start. Also cranking over means the engine turns over with starter engaged. It does not mean a running engine , as many here post it that way.

    Them spindle threads don’t usually stick out that far to screw another nut on. Lookin pretty dry in there also. Maybe he just ran out of cotter pins and had no 4 inch nails. Lol.
