    Shouler pain

I had a torn rotator cuff that was too bad to be repaired so the doctor did a shoulder joint replacement. A year and a half later, my shoulder is almost normal. Lots of pain during the recovery period. Months of rehab. I'm not sure that I'd do it again if had a choice.

    St Patrick’s Day

My wife and I were in Ireland on Easter Sunday a few years ago. Some very high percentage of the people were redheads, so I videoed random people and called my video my "Redheaded Review". The town where our B&B was located that we spent the night before Easter was named Hackensack, Ireland...

More about my New Holland 273 baler

Paul, Thanks for that reply. I did actually replace that chain sometime last year before my big breakdown. I don't think it is stretched. Maybe I put in one link too many in the chain. I thought that I had replaced it with the same number links that were in the old chain, but maybe not.

More about my New Holland 273 baler

I have a New Holland 273 small square baler. I had a catastrophic breakdown last fall and I'm finally close to having it fixed. I ran three bales through it today and everything worked well. On the fourth bale, the shear bolt on the flywheel broke. The only thing I see that's wrong right now...

New Holland Baler, changing from sisal to plastic twine

I have a NH 273 baler, not a 311. On the 273 there are two different billhooks for sisal versus twine. I don't know what the difference is since I only use sisal twine, but it might be worth looking into on the 311 baler.

Restaurant in a unique farm-related old building...

I moved away from the area more than 20 years ago and haven't been back so I don't know what is going on there now. But what Barnyard Engineering said is true of a majestic old church that was turned into a restaurant. The building was upscale, the furnishings were upscale, the linen...

    Led bulbs?

It's none of my business what any of you decide on anything, but here's just a general observation. I strongly dislike the LED headlights. They are so bright as to be blinding when I approach a vehicle with them. I don't know if it's possible to dim them in the same way that normal lights can...

    Leaking Pond

I have a small pond, certainly less than one acre. A few years ago it started leaking down. I hired a guy to come in and scoop a small layer from the pond. The guy found ledge rock in the bottom of the pond that probably was where the leakage was getting out. He then installed a silo liner in...

So where they worth it sockets

Old, I'd say you got a great deal. They might not be name brand, chromed, hardened sockets, but no matter what that's a heck of a deal. Tom in TN

    Lost my big 'ole' buddy

I, too, am sorry for your loss. I'm 79 years old and I've had dogs since I was eight years old. I've lost many over the years and I still cry like a baby when one dies. I have two Bostons now and I hope I die before they do, I just don't want to face the disappointment. Tom in TN

    Todays Survey Says

Tom, Along time ago I lived in Southern Minnesota. I enjoyed fall plowing with my moldboard plow and knew when it was time to stop and wait for spring to finish plowing. I knew that it was time to stop fall plowing when the ground got so frozen the plow was turning over frozen turf. Tom in TN

    Our Pony

cdmn, That's a beautiful pony and obviously, a great memory for you. You were a lucky boy to have that to work/play with. Although I've owned a few horses as an adult, I never owned one as a kid. So, when I was a kid, I had friends who had horses and I hung out with them a lot. Tom in TN

onefarmer, Yes. I would add my thank you to you for all of the work that you have put into maintaining the map. I'd like to look at my profile and possibly add my location to it but the fact is, I don't know how to find my profile. Can you tell me how to find it? Thanks, Tom in TN

    Problems with auto parts stores

I buy most of my parts from the NAPA dealer. All of the guys in there are very competent and helpful. What I don't get at NAPA, I generally get at O'Reilly's. Some of the guys are outstanding and some of them are just okay. Fortunately, I have a pretty good idea of which are which so if the...

    I got another one started

Mike, It is a great blessing to have a grandson who is interested in mechanics. I have two grandsons who will help me with anything I ask them to do, but they have no interest in anything farm related on their own. They're both good men, just have different interests from their old grampa...

Vermeer Rake should I trailer or pull home?

Jackson, How wide will the rake tines be? It looks from the picture that it would easily fill one lane of a good highway and would be too wide on a county road. Tom in TN
