    Snowblower on a Ford 640?

I know the Ford 640 is not an ideal tractor for a three-point hitch snowblower. Reverse gear is too fast and there's no two-stage clutch. Still, I wonder -- how bad is the performance for a 60-inch wide blower on maybe a 4 or 6 inch snowfall? I imagine moving 10 or 12 inches or more will be too...

    Ford 640 starting problem

My Ford 640, which usually starts with a quick touch of the starter button, sometimes does not start in cold weather. In 15-degree F. weather today, it gave one good cough and then nothing more. The starter spins well but no ignition happens. The carb does not appear to be flooded. Any...

    Ford 907 mower color?

What is the correct color for a Ford 907 flail mower? I have one that is in bad need of a paint job. Once upon a time it was blue. I have a can of Ford "Empire Blue" available, hoping it is the right shade of blue.

Benidx won't engage on Ford 640

I had to change the starter on my Ford 640. Now when I hit the starter button the starter motor spins but doesn't engage the flywheel. I hear a clicking sound as if gears are not meshing. What do I do next?

640 no start on a cold morning

A Ford 640, which always starts with a brief touch of the starter button, failed to start this morning when the air temperature was 12(F). It gave a very brief cough, then nothing, though the starter was spinning normally. What could be causing this?

    Fenders vs. tire chains

I have to remove the fenders when I set up my Ford 640 for winter with a snowplow and tire chains. If the fenders remain on the tractor the chains rub against the fender supports creating a lot of annoying noise. Removing and replacing the fenders every autumn and spring is inconvenient however...

640 pops out of first gear

My '55 Ford 640 pops out of first gear when going down steep inclines. What should I be looking at to figure out a repair?

    Ford 640 starting problem

Just finished reassembling my Ford 640 after removing the cylinder head to have it machined and to install a new head gasket. The engine fires at first but surges to very high speed, then backs off, surges again and finally quits and then won't restart, appearing to be flooded. What could be...

Pin holding fork to lift arm

I'm trying to replace the hydraulic lift leveling box assembly on a Ford 600. The bolt that holds the fork to the lift arm is resisting removal. After removing the nut, it appears driving out the bolt should work but so far no luck. Can someone suggest a better idea before I go for a bigger hammer?
