    do yourself a huge favor and get a 1020 head. the 810 is a junk head. ran one on my 715 and then upgraded to the 1020. ran my 715 for 10 years last 3 years was with the 1020. the 1020 is now on my 1620. the 715 is by far the worst piece of equipment that i ever owed. good luck...

    potentiometer?

    there is an update to hhc potentiometer to change it from the cable to a rod. well worth the upgrade. there is a also a harness adapter that has a resistor in it to help with "boucning" of the head. mine use to bounce like a bucking bronco till I did these up grades...

    Info on 1020 IH heads

    yes a 1020 head can be lock into rigid. there are straps that are bolted to the frame to lock it in. sizes I believe are 15, 16.5, 17.5, 20 22.5'.

    if you decide to replace the shaft there is an upgrade kit that you can buy from Clark machine and Abilene machine that converts that shaft to a threaded shaft like the 9 and 1000 series. much better than trying to use that roll pin or bolt. I did one row on my 843. I took the gear box off...

    I am sorry if I miss spoke early. I thought that oil filter setup was the one used on the combine. i wasn't always there as the work was done by a local mechanic. hope the pictures helped anyways. good luck! Duane

    when we put a D301 in our 560 we used the oil filter base that was on the engine. that was one thing I really liked because it was a spin on filter and no more cartridge filter. we didn't do any drilling. fwiw Duane

    under the floor there are 2 solenoids, one for the even and one for the odd gears. switch the wires and see what happens. if the evens work and the odds don't there is your problem. if not then contact mike at triple r tractors. he knows these tractors. http://www.triplertractors.com/...

    as mentioned take of the shield, clean it up good. i use moth balls and bounce dryer sheets. so far so good with that combo. some people will put flashing around their tires as well. i like to start mine once a month through the year. just keep an eye on the radiator for a coon. hth...

    our 715 had an 810 on it. ran it for 3 miserable years. then put a 1020 on it. that worked much better but it was till on a 715. after 10 years finally traded up to a 1620 and use the same 1020 and 843 today. combining was much more enjoyable. i can't imagine going back to a 715. i know...
