    Here are pics of ours. Looks like 1/4 inch thumb screw with tab threaded on and then soldiered or brazed. Same as latch on the toolbox lid.

    Maybe not totally correct, but close enough to get my attention. My friend told me that when the fruit companies first bought tractor's they were John Deere. Consequently the locals term for tractor was john deere. So now they have MF jds, Kubota jds, and CaseIH jds, etc.
