3 point hitch dropping

Hey guys, just got my 165 Massey Ferguson back running after
replacing rod bearings. The problem I am having now is that
when I have something hooked to the 3 point hitch it will slowly
drop all the way down, for example when bush hogging it will
drop my bush hog completely down to where im dragging the
front. Any suggestions on fixing this or what could be causing
it? Thanks!

The short term fix is wrap a chain around the 3pt and fasten to the tractor. But to me it sounds like the seals are weak in the lift cylinders. I have the same problem with my 47 ford 8n

If it will lift the mower completely off of the ground, it should hold the front at a preset level.

If the tractor also has hydraulic remotes, make sure the left lever in front of the seat is pinned back for three point use.

Make sure you understand the difference between the round knob draft control lever and the square knob lever right next to it and the correlation between the two. With the round knob all the way back and the square knob back that should be transport position then you can feather it down slowly with the transport lever (square knob) and when you reach the desired position leave the lever there.

I have never used the control levers, when I got the tractor the bracket for them was broken and the previous owner just used the auxiliary control valve so thats what Ive been using. I did fix the bracket for the control levers and tried to use them but couldnt get them to work, I may not have something set right on it or possibly the auxiliary valves could be holding them out?

It will lift the mower completely up. I use the left auxiliary control to raise and lower the mower right now, when I bought the tractor the control lever bracket was broken, I fixed it but couldnt get them to work. I will try to leave that left auxiliary control back and see if I can get them to work!

That's a poor setup. Nothing to keep the trailer from pushing the drawbar up in certain situations and nothing to keep the drawbar from slopping side to side, would be a pain in the a$$ to back up.

You need these stay bars. PTO/hydraulics must be disengaged when using them though.
