3 pt lift

On my 1972 MF 135, the lift doesn't work. The tractor only has 850 hours on it. I have had no problem until I started it today to cut grass and the lift doesn't work. Any ideas?
 
I tried several times today and no lifting. I left the tractor in the shed and tried again this afternoon and lo and behold, the lift worked. ???
 
I once had a similar problem with an MF 35. I ended up replacing the strainer inside the transmission housing. It was plugged up.
