7600 steering column

A friend of mine has a 7600 ford that the powersteering column keeps leaking out of the weephole. We have put 2 seals in
it. One lasted about 10 min. and the other one lasted about 4 months. the shaft looks good. He took it to a hydralic shop
and the wont touch it. Does anyone know of a place in the southeast that would be capable of rebuilding it or repairing
it. thanks jordan.

#10 is the control valve housing. There is no weephole in that part. Can you post back with a pic of exactly where the oil is coming from, or better yet point out this alleged weephole?

Alexander's Tractor Parts in Winnsboro, TX. rebuilt one just like that for me. (800) 231-6876
It ain't cheap either.

iirc......Some of those columns have a tiny hole about an inch below the steering wheel that will allow the leaking fluid to escape. The upper seal has failed, which is down in the middle area of the column. The shaft may have a groove worn in it, in which case it will leak with a new seal. A special speedy seal kit is available to slide a metal piece over the damaged shaft, and then replace the seal. Also the top bearing could be bad making the column wobble. Do NOT confuse the rubber bushing at the top of the column with the seal and bearing down in the hydraulic area of the column.
