My thoughts. The pitch of saw chains vary, and I didn't research what pitch you chain is. A link (drive or tooth) is between two connectors, so you have to take a link and connector out, at a minimum. You would have to remove a link (drive or tooth) and a connector so it would shorten the chain the length of two pitches, minimum, if it works out right.

Will lose the length of drive link and one connecter link, have to have new connector link to reconnect.

FIL had an old Poulan that called for an S56 chain and it would stretch beyond efficient use. Went to an S55 chain and helped the problem. 56 and 55 had to do with number of links.

2X the chain pitch.

If 1/4" then 1/2".
If .325" then .650".
If 3/8" then 3/4".
If .404" then .808".

Might be easier to replace chain with better quality one. If Worx = China......well lets not go there.

Check drive sprocket for wear, if bad replace both.

One link may be too much. Just drill a hole on the bar to get more adjustment.

Make sure the chain is getting oiled too. Check the bar and clean as needed.

Adjust the piler if you can, evidently the bar is not getting enough oil.

You may need to use lighter oil too,
