Dearborn 10-156

I'm looking at buying a Dearborn plow model 10-156. The owner doesn't know much about it and it is several hours away.

Did the 10-156 come in a standard size? Would it be a 12 in, 14 in, or 16in? Or does it vary?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It varied. Ask the seller to measure across the top beams from middle of one beam to middle of other beam and you will have your answer. I would rule out a 16" unless it was a single
bottom for use with an N tractor

Tim PlowNman is well versed on the
Dearborn plows and will likely weigh in
here. I just wanted to echo Kirk's advice
about measuring the plow and sizing it
for your tractor. I had a 2-14 Dearborn
that I tried to use behind a 2N with
strong engine and new tires in our clay
loam soil. Even with wheel weights the
tractor struggled with it.
I found a 1-16 Ferguson and that was much
better combo.
An N might pull 2-14s in lighter soil.
I doubt it would pull 2-16s in any soil.
I now run a 2-16 Ford 101 plow behind my
3000 which has about 50% more HP than an
N. It can make my tractor sweat pretty
hard.

Consider posts below.

A 2X12 mounted plow is about all that a good 8N wants in most conditions.

2X12 Dearborn plows are not as common as are 2X14s but can be found with patience.

First cousin has a very good 2X12 economy plow listed in the Cincinnati CL as we speak and the price is right. His Father bought it new along with his 8N and other stuff in 1950.
