Hello ski…, welcome to YT! Ultradog is my 5 mile away city neighbor, he’s a Ford guy and me IH. UD what’s up with him saying he has a 4 cylinder but everything I see indicates it should be 3? I know there was a Ford model that had a 3cyl for a certain time period and a 4 cylinder during a different run which one is that? Or is this a rudimentary skills problem?

Model C1023C
C= 3000 built after 4/68
10= Ag/all purpose
2= gas engine
3= live pto
C= 8 speed

4C08B
4= 1974
C= march
08= 8th day of the month
B= afternoon shift

Outstanding small tractor!
Thank you but i don't understand why its a 4cyl.supposed to be 3 for that year

There were no four cylinder 3000s.
Count the spark plugs.
There are 3 of them.
Count the wires on the distributer cap.
There are 4 of them including the center one that goes to the coil.
Look on the intake manifold.
Cast right in to it it clearly says Firing Order 1, 2, 3

My 2000 at 1964 was the last 4 cylinder that changed at 1965 I believe to the 3 cylinder and I don’t believe the 3000 was made till then so he’s probably correct. A picture might be worth a 1000 words with this one let’s see that motor. It might be possible he has the best of both

I will take pic of motor in the morning I'm not home ...this is very confusing lol i bought a starter for it by application and it won't fit the mounting ears are too small ..autozone 3131 part # and for the older 60s 4 its the same part # here's some other pics i had on my phone

Are you responsible for the painting or did it come that way? If it came like that it screams “cobbled together” job.

There is a Ford specific forum here at YT and the guys there are very knowledgeable about that era of Fords.
One of us is incorrect so I asked over there.
Hopefully they will set us straight.
Click the link below.

At a glance, it looks like a regular 3000 gas. The carburetor and starter don't look like the American version.
If it had a four cylinder transplant, the Ford tractor engine from a 5000 could be used. But it would require
stretching the hood and the radius rods. Can you give us the numbers from the front of the engine?
