Memorized it in the 7th grade.

Can still recite it along with Trees.

Poems are made by fools like me;
But only God can make a tree.

We also had to memorize it. Dont remember what grade. I can only remember the first 2 lines now, but still remember whats its all about. There was some kids or younger people wondering why businesses were closed today. Geez.

We had to memorize ''In Flanders Fields'' in English class in the freshman year, 60 years ago. Every student in the class had to step forward and recite the entire poem to obtain a passing grade. I can still remember the first paragraph/stanza, and some of the second, but I have to admit that the last stanza has escaped my memory.

And yes,in a one room school in Northern Alberta,we had to memorize In Flanders Fields.

We visited Ypres in Flanders, Belgium, a few years back. Very moving to see memorials and surviving trenches.
