Not good . I know guy that picked up a infection from pulling a calf and it paralyzed him

I certainly can agree with that. I'm not sure the damage from that ever goes away

Find a wound specialist. Daughter-in-Law Got an infection in her ankle after she broke it. Spent months with everything her regular doctor suggested. Found a wound specialist that used a vacuum treatment and several specialized antibiotic to finally cure it. Good luck with your treatments, sounds like it may be tough to cure!

I love Iodine and used it the first couple of days but because
it turned my skin red I could not tell if it was getting any
better. I may go back to it after the antibiotic. What is
really strange is that this ground is water soaked because of
several springs in the area which flow under a culvert and into
a local River about 1/2 mile away, I'm in the bottoms for sure,
place looks like Cambodia most of the year. Thing is I have
spent countless hours walking the creeks and river bottoms in
gym shoes in the water and never had a problem.

It does make it difficult to tell where the condition is headed. If normal color hasn't returned by day 9 I'd say the iodine treatment hasn't worked. If you use it. Based on my experience I would say your toe has turned to a burgundy to a deep purple, or may head in that direction if the condition is worsening. If normal color returns and swelling goes down whatever treatment being used in s has begun to work. I have never used povidone iodine. Only tincture of iodine or decolorized iodine in that small bottle. Has 45% alcohol in it. If the toe split from swelling, but you get to a degree of confidence the original infection is gone use bacitracin based ointment, wrap it, & keep it dry. Once normal skin color returned to the digit, toe is was home free. I believe bacitracin ointments are high in zinc.
