uhmm, i wandered why the rear crank seals always leaked!!!Can u read what was on the door, were they going to Canada ?

Semi-tractor is about 1956 or 1957 model. They were sold as Fords in the U S. Sold as Mercury's in Canada .
The Oliver's might be 1957 models. He has 8 tractors for the load. Would not think they would overload a truck at the factory . He might be headed to a dealer in Canada or already be in Canada from the looks of the building in the background.

Agree. 53 to 55 for sure. Not that familiar with Mercury truck grills. 56 would have the dogleg in the doors for the wrap around windshield. 57 was an all new body.

I'd guess hwe is right at the limit for the truck by axle weight since the truck would weight less than a newr one with the tandem drives and heavier diesel engine with the heavier multi speed transmission versus just a 5speed with maybe a 2 speed rearend. Only about a 40 foot trailer versus a now 53-57 foot lighter axles and it all adds up some. Probably only weighs about 24or 25,000 empty. We have guys with hopper trains that oly weight about 32,000 with 2 trailers and a MI special tractor. Mi special is an 18,000 front with 440or heavier rear axles and a heavy or double framed tractor usually had the 13,15 or now 18 speed trans even some had 2 sticks like 5x4's or such combination in them. Not always the biggest engine either. Back when a lot only had 350 cummaparts or v-8or v-12 hill sniffers in them before they started putting Cats in them.
