PARTS YARDS FOR IH W9

try davidson tractor salvage in indiana, they had a few 9 series come in for parts. also try bates corp in bourbon indiana.

Try Smith Tractor and Equipment, Forest City, NC. Google will pull up the number.

He's been trading and parting out heavy equipment and tractors for as long as I can remember. Two huge places but he's a one man show now a day's. Very knowledgeable.

I believe you called me last night. I have not been able to find one and have tried most of the salvage yards listed below. I have tired many of the larger yards that have connections with others and have turned up zero. Worst part is that it is also a crap shoot as many places can not mag or pressure test a head before its sent out. Be careful as there are a number of scammers out there unfortunately. I will continue to look over the winter though.

if you need head gasket sets, steiners now has them available for under 200, they also have reproduction intake/exhaust manifolds. they also have a salvage yard, may want to give them a call.

To bad the two OLD guy in Youngstown Ohio are not around anymore , If ya had a cracked head ya just run it uop to them and drop it off and they would tell ya come back NEXT week and it will be fixed . Ya had to take it up bare and clean , when ya got it back it was refaced with new seats and painted and it was FIXED . They worked out of a nasty old shop in the North side , heads and blocks all over the place .+ I think they even could fix the crack of dawn.

I used these guys serval times. They have a lot of parts tractors and implements.

FYI
I ordered and Installed a Head Gasket kit from Steiner. I made sure I called Steiner Tractors parts and talked to a gentleman before I ever installed the Head gasket..
I'm 100% satisfied with the Head GASKET. His name is possibly Mr.Stenor Ord.

I was not experienced with a Head gasket (never seen on Vintage Engines) that is metal on the Engine Block side and Graphite composition on the Head side, with NO grommets that normally align with the coolant passages from the Engine Block into the Head.

FYI

The part # for the Gasoline Head on my W9, is also the same NUMBER CAST on the HEAD..
8320 DB

Their are heads out there that are of a lower Compression Ratio......Distillate / Kerosene application
Part # 9195 DA

Neither the INTAKE and or EXHAUST Valves are interchangeable between the two heads.

I would be cognoscente of not purchasing a head that is designed for Distillate / Kerosene application if I required a head fro a Gasoline application.

NOTE...Both heads shall fit the W9...
